Frequently Asked Questions
What is hypnosis, anyway? It is a state of heightened awareness, defined by the US government as, “bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind combined with the establishment of selective thinking.”
Will I be unconscious? No. You will be aware of all sounds around you at all times.
Will I remember everything that happened in trance? Absolutely.
Can I be hypnotized? Sure, and you have been many times. Ever been entranced by music, art, film, or dance? You were in a state of trance. And that’s hypnosis.
What does it feel like? Hypnosis feels like daydreaming.
Does the hypnotist control me? No, the hypnotist guides you. And, if at any time you want to emerge from the state for any reason, you will instantly, naturally open your eyes and become fully alert. No one can keep you in hypnosis against your will.
Isn’t all hypnosis self-hypnosis? Yes. However, to get optimal results, a qualified, board certified hypnotist is best.
How do hypnosis sessions proceed? First, the hypnotist explains hypnosis and answers any questions you may have. Second, you discuss your goals or issues with the hypnotist. Third, the hypnotist guides you into a state of deep relaxation and mental alertness in which you will be fully aware of everything going on around you. Various techniques are used to clarify the underlying cause of your problem, and additional techniques resolve them. Then you are emerged. Last, the hypnotist reviews the session with you.
Are sessions taped? You may bring a video or other recorder for your own use.
What do sessions cost? $100 per session, lasting about 2 hours. Visa, Mastercard, checks and cash accepted.
Is there a charge for cancelled sessions? No.
Can I get a free phone consultation? Sure.
How many sessions does it take? 4 to 6 for most issues for good, lasting results. No package deals are offered, since some clients only need one or two sessions. This means you pay for each session at its conclusion.
Can sessions be done by telephone? Yes, and many clients prefer them. You pay for the call, and it’s still cheaper and less nuisance than driving. You may use a bluetooth, speakerphone or headset, if you like. And you’ll need a distraction-free two-hour block of time, and a comfy chair or recliner. The cost is the same, $100 for a two-hour session.
Will my insurance pay for hypnosis? Typically it will not.
Do you take credit cards? Yes, Visa and Mastercard.
Can I deduct my sessions on my taxes? Some folks can. For instance, hypnosis works great for sales motivation, and if you are able to deduct your sales expenses, it is deductible as an expense.
Which methods do you use? Guided imagery, parts, upgrades, regression to cause, direct suggestion, forgiveness, unguided imagery, client privacy option, higher mind communication, among many others.
When do I need a doctor’s referral? The laws of the State of Florida require a doctor’s referral for any therapeutic, medical, psychological, or psychiatric issue. A standardized form can be emailed, mailed or faxed to you or directly to your doctor for signature. This means that hypnosis can help you with, for example, the stress underlying and resulting from depression, but in order to work directly on the depression, your doctor’s permission is absolutely required.
When do I NOT need a doctor’s referral? When you simply need to quit smoking, lose weight, be a better golfer, relieve stress, find a lost object, get motivated, or revisit a past life, and so forth, no doctor’s referral is required. This is in strict conformance with Florida State law.
What is your policy on Privacy and Confidentiality? Your privacy is assured on many levels. First, no personal details of your issues are ever released to third parties without your permission. Second, the hypnotist never tells anyone that you are a client. Third, during the session, you may choose to share the insights and memories that surface, or not; it can be preferable to tell the hypnotist everything, but that is your decision. Fourth, Miss Beaudry takes session notes in longhand, and you may certainly request copies. Fifth, you are welcome to video or audiotape the sessions for your own use.
Why am I given a Client Bill of Rights? In Florida, giving a Clients Bill of Rights is optional; in California it is mandatory. Miss Beaudry has been giving them out for years. It sets forth her credentials, costs, and most importantly, who to contact should you seek redress for any problem. In her years of practice, no client has ever registered a single complaint.
